Data Hiding Capacity and Embedding Techniques for Printed Text Documents

چکیده
In previous publications we have demonstrated the use of laser intensity modulation to embed information in halftone and text documents. In those experiments we were able to embed and correctly decode 33 bits in a 12 point page of printed text. In this paper we will present our current work on developing a channel model for a text document. This model will allow us to define capacity bounds for the channel and to better understand the modulation and detection techniques that can be used to reach that capacity.

Text data-hiding for digital and printed documents: theoretical and practical considerations
In this paper, we propose a new theoretical framework for the data-hiding problem of digital and printed text documents. We explain how this problem can be seen as an instance of the well-known Gel’fand-Pinsker problem. The main idea for this interpretation is to consider a text character as a data structure consisting of multiple quantifiable features such as shape, position, orientation, size...
متن کاملA New Property Coding in Text Steganography of Microsoft Word Documents
Electronic documents, similarly as printed documents, need to be secured by adding some specific features that allow efficient copyright protection, authentication, document tracking or investigation of counterfeiting and forgeries. Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processors, and several methods exist for embedding data specially in documents produced by it. We present a new type...
متن کاملApplication Of High Capacity Data Hiding In Halftone Images
We consider applications of our recently proposed method for hiding digital data in halftone images via dot orientation modulation. As compared to prior halftone image watermarking techniques, the method allows for automated extraction of the data and relatively high capacity. These characteristics enable several new applications that we highlight in this paper. By quantifying the effective err...
متن کاملP.s.a. for Hiding Scanned Documents within Images
PSA stands for Pixel Scrambling Algorithm. This algorithm was published early this year [Potdar, Chang 2004]. This paper shows a practical application of PSA and how we can hide scanned document within an image. The scanned document could be either hand written or printed. The main idea behind this algorithm is that most scanned documents contain alot of redundant data, which doesn’t provide an...
متن کاملData Embedding in Text for a Copier System
In this paper, we present a scheme for embedding data in copies (color or monochrome) of predominantly text pages that may also contain color images or graphics. Embedding data imperceptibly in documents or images is a key ingredient of watermarking and data hiding schemes. It is comparatively easy to hide a signal in natural images since the human visual system is less sensitive to signals emb...
